This great American theatrical legacy was born in a small theater. MANHATTAN SHORT 2022 will run for one full week (Sept 16 - Sept 22) at a Cinema in the county of Los Angeles. In essence, Golyak has initiated a process through which audiences can choose to see a traditional presentation of the play in a theater (in this case, the off-Broadway venue The Baryshnikov Arts Center, founded by legendary dancer and actor Mikhail Baryshnikov, who is a member of the cast. This grassroots phenomenon altered the course of Off- & Off-Off Broadway theatre and shaped their destinies, winning one of the first Obie Awards for play writing and eventually becoming the longest running Off-Broadway show in history, launching the careers of James Earl Jones, Cicely Tyson, Louis Gossett JR., and a number of other enduring influential American actors in the process. Schechter Manhattan is a K-8 Jewish day school located at 805 Columbus Avenue at 100th Street dedicated to growing the academic, emotional, and social development of every student. iTheatre is the modern day alternative to movie theatre where members can enjoy all the latest movies, short films, web series and documentaries. Gene Frankel’s 1961 production of Jean Genet’s The Blacks, A Clown Story exemplified the vitality and influence a small theater can have. In this venture, we intend to revive NoHo as a cauldron of art and ideas. Our mission is to nurture living playwrights and artists audaciously expressing contemporary identity.
